Why Slow, Mindful Yoga

Slow, mindful yoga is a nuanced approach which works the body internally and externally. The emphasis is on the effect of the postures on the body and breath during and after the sessions (i.e. how do they make you feel). This approach differs from strong, fast or fitness yoga. Yet it is also different to (and more than beginners’ or mere gentle yoga.

That said, those experienced in yoga and beginners alike will benefit from these slow, mindful nuanced and sustainable practices where the benefits are:-

  • Improved wellness

  • Reduced stress

  • Ability to deal with stress more effectively through greater awareness

  • Greater nervous system resilience

  • Improved bodily and sensory awareness

  • Improved sleep

  • Greater mobility

  • Improved mental health

  • Improved lower back health

  • Reduced likelihood of developing chronic diseases

Slow, mindful yoga classes are sequenced to bring greater resilience to the nervous system working the body from the inside out.

Slow, mindful yoga invites class participants to pause between some (not all!) of the practices to notice the effect on the breath, mind and body following the movement they have just made.
