What is Slow Mindful Yoga?

Warrior II is a regular feature in my Slow Mindful Yoga classes

See below for more information on just what is Slow Mindful Yoga and how it can help You

The focus of Slow Mindful Yoga

Slow Mindful Yoga consists of yoga asana (the postures) as well as pranayama (breath work), yogic meditation and Yoga Nidra (deep relaxation).  The focus of Slow Mindful Yoga is its effect on the nervous system and how it makes the practitioner feel at specific points during the session and afterwards.

The lasting effects of Slow Mindful Yoga

The emphasis on how you feel after the class is not just immediately afterwards.  Practising yoga in this way, on a regular basis, is thought to have long lasting effects on how the brain is wired so there may be further-reaching improvements in many areas of life including greater self-awareness, memory function and restful sleep.

Stretching and Slow Mindful Yoga

So whilst a Slow Mindful Yoga class does not have stretching as its key focus, participants will still experience plenty of slow, mindful stretches. Many of the postures involved in a stronger/fitness yoga class (such as Warrior I and Warrior II , Downward Facing Dog and Cobra) will be included in a Slow Mindful Yoga class but the emphasis is not on how these postures look but how they feel..
